Despite being a matchup of 2-0 teams, the Atlanta Falcons’ trip to Dallas to take on the Cowboys will be one where both teams are not playing spectacular football by any stretch of the imagination. Both teams have defeated two squads that simply aren’t impressive so far this season, and will look to hit better form in this game, with an important head start as far as postseason seeding is concerned on the line. American football tipsters will have their hands full deciphering this battle of inconsistent teams.

Atlanta Falcons Winning Ugly

For the Atlanta Falcons, two wins to start the season under new head coach Dan Quinn is a positive start. But beyond the point totals, the Falcons haven’t had much to be proud of. Atlanta has defeated a Philadelphia Eagles team that has been terrible so far this season by less than a field goal, nearly blowing a double digit lead down the stretch. They also needed to come back from a double digit deficit to defeat the New York Giants, who have looked shaky at best so far this campaign.

This week Dan Quinn’s side will take on a Dallas Cowboys team that is without several key players due to injury, meaning that Atlanta has a golden opportunity to push their record to 3-0 with wins against three NFC East division teams. But beyond a chance to win another game, this is a chance for Atlanta to make a statement against a team playing a backup quarterback, a statement that they are capable of beating teams they should beat convincingly.

In order to do that, Julio Jones and Matt Ryan will need to continue to play well together, as their passing combination has been explosive in both of Atlanta’s wins this year.

Dallas Cowboys Need To Overcome Injuries

After signing wide receiver Dez Bryant to a contract extension this summer, the Dallas Cowboys figured that the combination of Tony Romo passing to Dez Bryant would be able to sustain them all season long. But injuries to both of those men have destroyed that vision, and left a lot of questions for a team tabbed by American football tipsters to be a Super Bowl contender this year.

Bryant broke a bone in his foot during the Cowboys’ week one comeback win over the New York Giants, and is expected to miss about 10 more weeks. Romo, meanwhile, should miss two months with a broken collarbone suffered in last week’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now Dallas has to rely on career backup Brandon Weeden at the quarterback position, while the likes of Cole Beasley, Terrance Williams, and other lesser known receivers will have to fill the void left by Dez Bryant against an Atlanta defense that has been decent so far this year.

Both the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons have defeated the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles this year, two teams who do not look like contenders in the NFC. In order to establish themselves as contenders in their own right, a win this week would be a big step forward for either of these teams.
