Haydock Racecourses
Haydock racecourse is a galloping, mainly flat, left handed track. The circuit is just over one mile and a half in circumference and oval in shape. The course is probably a bit tighter than was once the case with the rail alignments brought further inwards not so long ago. It is a dual purpose course, accommodating both flat and jump racing and holding top quality action in both disciplines.
The hurdle track has six hurdles whilst there are nine fences on the chase circuit. It tends to suit a galloper but has good tactical speed as well, a nice blend to test both attributes in even measure.
Ground conditions can get fairly testing during the winter months, making the course a more stamina sapping test.
It is a high profile course and there is a fair list of feature races, those that deserve special mention are a follows; The Betfair Chase, a grade one event over three miles in November, the Peter Marsh Chase, a grade two handicap over an extended three miles run in January and the Haydock Grand National Trial over three miles and four and a half furlongs in the middle of February.
Over hurdles, the Haydock Champion Hurdle, a grade two race run in February over two miles and the Betfair Rendelsham Hurdle which is also a grade two event and run in February but raced just shy of three miles. Both races are recognised as legitimate trials for the championship races at the Cheltenham festival.

Additional note; Despite the low win strike rate, the profit generated means this yard was worthy of inclusion. It is not a high profile stable, hence there is often value to be had when backing their runners at the venue in the circumstances mentioned above. Profits can be increased further by omitting runners that are being turned out within two weeks from its latest run. The yards runners tend to perform better when given sufficient amount of time between races, if this was applied to the above stats you would have saved yourself 25 losing bets and there were no winners who did run within a fourteen day period.
