SEVILLA END REAL’S UNBEATEN START
Real Madrid finally lost Europe’s only unbeaten start to the season in all competitions after going down 3-2 at Sevilla on Sunday evening. Former Sevilla player Sergio Ramos put the visitors in front, only for Italian striker Ciro Immobile to level for the hosts with his first goal of the season. Éver Banega and Fernando Llorente then increased Sevilla’s lead after the break, with James Rodriguez grabbing a late consolation for Los Blancos.
ROMA GRAB ITALIAN CAPITAL BRAGGING RIGHTS
Played in a stadium half deserted due to fan protests, Roma won the first capital derby of the season beating Lazio by two goals to nil. EdinDzeko’s 10th minute penalty gave Rudi Garcia’s side the lead, although replays showed that the initial foul on him was outside the penalty area. Flying winger Gervinho mopped up the points for the Giallorossi just after the hour mark, but the game was marred by an ankle injury to Roma’s Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah, from a tackle by Lazio’s SenadLulić who was extremely lucky to stay on the field. Salah will be out for around six weeks with ligament damage.
KANE ON TARGET FOR SPURS AMID BAYERN TRANSFER RUMOURS
Harry Kane scored his sixth goal of the season for Spurs in the North London derby against Arsenal (which eventually finished 1-1) at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, as rumours about his future continue to fill the back pages of the English press. The 22-year-old has been on the radar of Manchester United for some time now but reports coming out of Germany at the weekend, suggest Pep Guardiola is ready to hijack any potential bid from the Red Devils to take him to Bayern Munich next summer. The Catalonian tactician is rumoured to be about to pen a two-year extension to his contract in Bavaria and the England international is thought to be his main transfer target next year.Kane is now priced at *4.00 on the best online sports betting sites to score 20 goals this campaign.
MAGNIFICENT NEYMAR SENDS BARCELONA TO THE TOP OF LA LIGA
Brazilian superstar Neymar continued his blistering scoring run for Barcelona, grabbing two more goals as the reigning champions beat Villarreal 3-0 to go back to the top of La Liga. His magnificent strike five minutes from time, capped off another wonderful performance by a player who has took it upon himself to lead the team in the absence of Lionel Messi. A Luis Suárez penalty in between Neymar’s two strikes wrapped up the points for the home side to put them in a commanding position going into the international break.
KLOPP TASTES DEFEAT FOR THE FIRST TIME AS LIVERPOOL BOSS
Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool side lost for the first time under his tutelage in a surprise 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace. The Reds went behind after 21 minutes thanks to a goal by Yannick Bolasie, but when Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho levelled for the home side just before half-time, it looked as though they would go on to win to keep the German’s unbeaten start intact. Unfortunately, Palace defender Scott Dann had failed to read the script, grabbing the winner eight minutes from time to give the South London side a deserved victory. Klopp’s side now sit at *3.25 on the best football betting sites to finish in the top four.
