Ascot Day Two: Viva La Victoire

Ascot Day Two: Viva La Victoire
Saturday is the final day of the Ascot double header, with trainers looking to secure big wins before the start of the Christmas festivities and boxing day racing.

Reve De Sivola Goes For The Treble

Nine-year-old French gelding Reve de Sivola goes into Saturday’s Long Walk Hurdle looking for his third successive victory in the grade 1.

A dominant performance in last years race, he made the running before taking complete command, winning by an impressive ten lengths to Salubrious in the hands of Richard Johnson.

Trained by Nick Williams he seems to take to the Ascot track well, especially around Christmas. His form in between races in nothing to write home about, but with the ground to his liking this weekend he could pull it out of the bag once again.

Venetia Williams Set For Another Fine Performance

Venetia Williams has already had a fine start to the week’s racing and she will be hopingthe luck continues at Ascot.

Her standout runner on Saturday in the15:00 is seven-year-old Houblon Des Obeaux. Recently picking up form after a slow start the season, he put in a gutsy performance in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury finishing second priced at 50/1.

In the hands of Aiden Coleman tomorrow he is priced at 9/2, in the three mile Mappin and Webb Siver Cup Handicap Chase. The distance shouldn’t prove a problem for him as it is a step down in trip from his last outing.

Tip of the Day
15:30 Ascot: Garde La Victoire

Philips Hobbs trained Garde Le Victoire comes into this race on the back of impressive form and will be hoping to continue a winning streak for his trainer who already has three wins this week.

Beating Nicky Henderson trained Vaniteux last month in the Greatwood Hurdle priced at 10/1, he should have a decent chance tomorrow as he will be running on similar ground.

Philips Hobbs’ go-to jockey Richard Johnson is booked to ride Garde Le Victoire – a good omen as Johnson has already secured him two victories this season.

At 8/1, Gardle La Victoire is well worth a bet.
