Game Preview

Match between 17th and 20th placed team in Premier league will be played today at 21:00 on Selhurst Park in London.

Crystal Palace's new boss Sam Allardyce is still without win, but I think that things will change today. With players like Cabaye, Townsend, Zaha, Puncheon, Benteke is far from being bad and even if that will be the last match of Zaha before leaving for African Cup of Nations, I believe that they will start getting points. Swansea is the "easiest" opponent in next 3 matches and being already without a single win for exactly one month, it's time to put all 3 of them on they're account. After the match against Arsenal, Sam admitted that he took of some of his best players to give them some minutes of rest after being behind for 2 goals against Arsenal. Cabaye, Townsend and Benteke were substituted and we can expect them in first eleven today.

What to say about Swansea. Shock therapy with Bradley didn't succeed. Even if they won twice, last two defeats at home on Liberty stadium with 3 goals difference was too much and Bradley is past. New coach, ex. assistant coach of Bayern Clement, will come after this match so interim manager Curtis will be in charge today against Crystal Palace. They will be without Amat who is suspended, Montero who is still injured, while also Taylor, Routledge and Llorente are seriously doubtful. Specially without Llorente, who scored 6 goals this season, they're attacking line is much weaker.

I think that quality is on home side. Even if they have bad record, home pitch should be an advantage as well. And then there is Big Sam, who did some great jobs also with less quality players, and as already mention, first win is coming! I said many times that winning second balls is important in Premier league and in this element I see home team in advantage. Swansea will maybe even take the possession a little, but as they are hardly creating chances, meaning of possession will be useless. One of the biggest advantages for Crystal Palace in my opinion will be on flanks. Swansea is one of the weakest teams as it comes to defending wingers, and with as strong individuals as Zaha and Townsend are, I see lot's of problems for away side today. Good shoot is also Crystal Palace team goals over 1,5.

Post-Game Analysis

PL strikes again. I know that I said that there will be only a few analysis from Premier league, as I need to learn a lot about the league and it's to risky to put units on it, but yesterday after analysing the match between Crystal Palace and Swansea, I simply needed to put it on side as I found many miss matches which I thought home team will take as advantage, but they didn't. As predicted, Swansea was the on in possession, but I predict also lots of chances from wing play situations for Crystal Palace and it didn't happen. It's true that if they attacked anywhere, then it was on flanks, but too poor and without serious danger. On the other side I need to admit that Swansea was all over the pitch in first half, missing one great chance, while home team had chances only throw free kicks, as Swansea made some fouls in dangerous positions, there should be also a penalty for Crystal Palace in second half, but all in all they didn't deserve nothing more then draw. I am still saying that analysis was fine, but maybe I should include the fact that home team had only 1 day of rest before this match, but anyway. If the match would be today, I would probably make the same call.
