Game Preview

The Seagulls will be playing Premier League football next season after having clinched promotion in midweek with a win over Wigan. A win in this one out at Carrow Road would secure that they go up as Champions too. Norwich sit in the eighth spot in the league but mathematically out of play off contention.

There have been plenty of goals between these two at Carrow Road in recent meetings, and the Canaries have scored at least three goals in each of their last four home games against the Seagulls. So we could be in for an entertaining night on Friday in the Championship. Over 2.5 goals at William Hill returns a price of 4/6, just going on the recent history. Norwich will miss out on the play-offs this season but they have been a strong home side all term. The Canaries have posted a W13 D4 L4 record at home in the Championship this season, but they did slip up last weekend on home soil against Fulham. That snapped a nine-match unbeaten streak of form that they were on including a huge 7-1 win over play-off candidates Reading on April 8th. Both teams to score in this fixture is a price of 8/15 with William Hill which looks likely to crop up. 67% of Norwich’s home games this term have gone over the goal line.

So Brighton will be Champions guaranteed if they win this one having come out on top in their season-long duel with Newcastle at the top. They have hit wining form when it has mattered the most, putting together a five-match winning streak in the league. The Seagulls have gone W11 D5 L5 on the road this season and are on a two-match winning streak away from home with just the one defeat in their last seven away games (W5 D1 L1). So they are in form and they have scored at least two goals in each of their last four games. Glenn Murray is at 3/2 in the William Hill anytime goalscorer market for them, with Anthony Knockaert at 7/4, but the market is lead by Norwich’s Cameron Jerome at 11/8. The Seagulls are winless in their last four trips to Carrow Road in all competitions but did thump the Canaries 5-0 earlier this season on the south coast. Seven of the last eight meetings between these two have seen at least three goals.

Brighton have dug out some good results on the road recently, but they may struggle to beat Norwich who are a good home side. At the end of the day, a point would still edge the Seagulls closer to that title and it could be enough if Newcastle fails to win on Saturday anyway. Score draw.
