Who are they?

One of the original betting exchanges, BETDAQ was founded in 2000 but was bought out by Ladbrokes in 2013, and the newly-established Ladbrokes exchange is based on the same network. To this day, BETDAQ remains the second-biggest exchange by market share, and is the sponsor of several sports teams and key sporting events. Registered in Gibraltar, and regulated by the British Gambling Commission, the exchange boasts of taking in excess of £75m in bets each week.

Why should I bet with this exchange?

The relative benefits of betting on an exchange as opposed to a traditional sportsbook are well-documented (more favourable odds, limits which are decided only by what is available to be traded, and an approach that actively supports and encourages ‘winning’).

BETDAQ commission rates are usually set at 3% for most sports, which is considerably better than Betfair’s 5%, and the platform would still have more liquidity than rivals such as Matchbook. There are plenty of sports and markets on offer, and a host of special features which can help those new to the betting exchange format.

Why shouldn’t I bet with this exchange?

BETDAQ is not that big on promotions, and the commission rate can be bettered by Matchbook. On the markets and liquidity front, this exchange can once more be outdone by the likes of Betfair, both for pre-game and in-play markets. It’s in the middle for almost everything you need, but sometimes that’s not a bad place to be.

How to activate the sign-up bonus

  1. Open a new customer account using promotional code FB2515.
  2. Earn 4 exchange points by winning or losing a minimum of £100 (cumulative).

Other noteworthy specials

There is an additional sign-up offer of getting 50% commission back for the first three months by using promotional code BDQHALF. This would be a more attractive offer dependent on how much you are going to stake.

There are also frequent big event offers and virtual sports promotions.

Sports and markets available

20 sports are listed, which is of course not as heavy as some of the bigger and more traditional types of sportsbooks, or even some exchange competitors. Similarly the number of in-play markets is less than elsewhere, but as far as all the major British/Irish sports are concerned (for example, football, tennis, horse racing and golf) the options are pretty good for the average bettor.

Special features

The trading tools tab on the landing page task bar takes you to betdaqtraders.com which is marketed as your ‘one stop shop for Exchange Betting Trading Tools’. Similarly, the betdaqtips.com page is a great location for a advice on how to use a betting exchange, as well as news, previews, and betting tips from tipsters, and an interesting tipping game. These are great features and add serious weight to the user-experience, but of course would not be relevant or useful for everybody.

On the in-play side of things, not only is there a cash-out option but also partial cash-out too, which always wins many points from a bettor’s perspective.

Support Functions

The help section (betdaqhelp.custhelp.com/app/home) immediately takes you to phone, email and live chat contact options as well as FAQS. The BETDAQ tips’ tab on the landing page is also a great place to visit for all manner of advice on how to use a betting exchange effectively. This is particularly useful for those uninitiated in the ways of betting exchanges or betting in general.

Payment Options

There’s card/debit card and e-wallet options including Neteller and Skrill, as well as PayPal.

Verdict

4/5 – It doesn’t have the lowest commissions (Matchbook), or the highest liquidity (Betfair), but this exchange is a good all-rounder with plenty of markets on offer and a good number of customers, meaning you should more often-then-not find someone to take your bet at the value you are looking for.
