Why should I bet with this bookmaker?

188bet is a book with plenty to offer casual punters in the form of acca insurance,  an impressive number of both pre and in-game markets, and great prices, and also has something to offer more serious players in the form of high limits and generous pay-out restrictions. Both types of punters can find reasons to be cheerful in the attractive Asian-Handicap markets available.

Why shouldn’t I bet with this bookmaker?

If you are looking for a number of promos and bonuses, live streaming and cash-out options, this is not the place for you. It’s essentially ‘no-frills’ but overcomes that issue with solid numbers.

Other noteworthy specials

Accumulator insurance is offered on 5+ selections in tennis, rugby and golf.

There are also frequent racing specials which regularly include money-back bets on selections which lose to Starting Price (SP) favourites.

Sports and markets available

The list of sports offered is certainly not as exhaustive as elsewhere with currently only 16 available, but this does of course cover all of the favourites including horse racing, football and tennis, and there are a number of special markets offered on each sport (see special features). There are also eSports, financials, special events and lottery options.

Delving further into each individual sport, over 400 soccer leagues can be played on, and there are nearly 100 individual markets on offer on the biggest games, which again does not quite match some of the larger books, but is impressive nonetheless. In-play is certainly where it’s at with this bookmaker, although the lack of cash-out function is a major drawback.

Special features

A lovely touch on the sportsbook is it propensity to offer ‘past and present’ markets. A topical example is in the current NBA playoffs where a host of prices are offered on current players to beat historical milestones (such as Michael Jordan’s 63 points in a single game, or Wilt Chamberlain’s frankly unbelievable 41 rebounds).

Statistics are offered in conjunction with Betradar, although the comprehensive results service is provided in-house (www.188bet.co.uk/en-gb/sports/results). There are regular news and opinion-piece articles, but there’s no cash-out function or live streaming though, which are certainly negatives.

Support Functions

Everything is present and correct here, with email, phone and live chat functions (although the latter service does have a nasty habit of being unavailable). There is also an FAQ section (www.188bet.co.uk/en-gb/faqs)

Payment Options

Bank transfer, debit and credit cards, Neteller, Skrill, Entropay and cheque.

Verdict

3.5/5 – Great odds and limits are somewhat countered by the failure to offer many attractions to punters of a more casual variety, but this is undoubtedly an Asian-focused book with strong credentials and a reputation for reliability and professionalism.
