Profiting from flat Jockey William Buick

Jockey William Buick

William Buick comes from a racing background where his father was a Scandinavian champion jockey on no less than eight occasions.

He is considered an intelligent jockey and person for he speaks three other languages outside of English fluently, Danish, German and Norwegian. He comes across as a very able person in his interviews and it’s well-known within the industry that his assessment of horses when reporting back to connections is valuable in determining future racing plans.

He’s won an award for apprentice jockey of the year in 2007 and the following year which meant he is currently the only jockey to have won the apprentice award on two occasions. He also became a joint apprentice champion jockey in 2008, a battle that went right to the wire with Dave Probert and saw the odds fluctuate on a daily basis near the end of the season.

Ironically, those two jockeys both rode for Andrew Balding, with one replacing the other once Willaim Buick moved to pastures new. His talents soon came on to John Gosden’s radar in which he joined their operation as retained rider in 2010 and won his first group one race abroad in America.

His fortunes changed since that move in terms of the winners he rode each season, amassing over 100 winners per year up to and including in 2015, with the highest tally being in 2012 with 132 victories recorded from 702 rides, producing a very healthy win strike rate of around 19%.

He was rewarded for those efforts by being offered a lucrative contract with Godolphin for who he currently rides, the slight downside is that he has ridden fewer winners since joining their camp.

However, the upside for riding for one of the most powerful connections in the world of racing is the potential to earn a decent commission fee as their horses are often found competing in some of the best races in the world.

With 22 group one races under his belt, it won’t be long before he adds to that tally given the armoury at his disposal.

Here are some worthwhile stats for betting purposes.
