Bayern Munich V Liverpool

Bayern Munich V Liverpool, Audi Cup, Wednesday 2nd August

It’s Bayern Munich V Liverpool on Wednesday 2nd August in the second game of this year’s Audi Cup, a high-profile pre-season tournament which takes place biennially in the Allianz Arena, the home of the mighty Bavarian giants, and which this year features Atlético Madrid and Napoli (who play in the tournament’s first game) as well as Liverpool and of course the hosts. Join us as we take a look at the best betting selections ahead of the tournament’s second game as Bayern entertain Liverpool.

Looking at the recruitment of the two teams over the summer, Liverpool will be quite happy with the signings they have made so far. Mohamed Salah is the most high-profile of those but he’s been joined by Andrew Robertson and youngster Dominic Solanke who’s arrived from Chelsea and looks an exciting prospect. The big issue for Jürgen Klopp, though, will be whether he can hang on to Philippe Countinho whose future, as many players’ seem to be at this stage, is entwined with that of Neymar. If Neymar makes that big-money move away from Barcelona, expect a transfer merry-go-round to take place and Coutinho to Barcelona could well be one of the consequences of that move. In saying that, he should be available for this game if things stay as they are for now.

Bayern have brought in a number of youngsters, Niklas Süle are two Corentin Tolisso such examples, while Sebastian Rudy has joined on a free, and then there is the high-profile arrival of James Rodríguez from Real Madrid on a two-year loan deal.

Pre-season-wise, Bayern have been very disappointing so far; they have only won one of their four pre-season matches to date, although interestingly for this game, that was a 3-2 win over Chelsea – they drew 1-1 with Arsenal and suffered a couple of heavy defeats at the hands of Inter and AC Milan to complete the full set of fixtures to date. Liverpool, on the other hand, have won four of five including a convincing 3-0 win over Hertha Berlin last time out.

However, looking at the history of this Audi Cup format, which is played biennially, Bayern have won three of the four incarnations of this tournament so far; in the one that they didn’t win they actually did reach the final so they have never in fact lost this opening game in an Audi Cup competition, and we are going to use that to inform our betting this time.

So, looking at the betting, Bayern to win (as you can imagine from the statistics just seen) is not at long odds. Currently the best you can get are 1.57, which is with 188 bet.

Going over 2.5 goals always makes sense in these pre-season friendlies, and again the odds aren’t great – 1.50 with a number of different bookmakers, but it looks sensible and we have to follow sense in these bets. And then Both Teams to Score is another interesting and sensible bet to take. currently the best odds there are 1.59, and that’s with 188bet and 10bet.

The winners here will play the victors in the Atlético MadridV Napoli game, while the two losers will also go head-to-head to round out this pre-season event.
