Arsenal host CSKA Moscow at Emirates today at 20.05 GTM for the quarter final of the Europa League.
Arsenal are having a disappointing season in the Premier League this year, and the Europa League is their only option to get to Champions League next year. To do that, they must win the Europa League though, with CSKA Moscow their next opponent, which have kicked out some decent teams to reach the last 16. They seem to have picked themselves up as in their last 4 matches, winning twice against Milan in the Europa League and at home against Stoke and Watford in the Premier League scoring 11 goals and conceding only one. Arsenal have won 80% of their last five Europa League games by two or more goals.
CSKA Moscow are one of the smallest teams remaining in the Europa League, but in the last round they knocked Lyon out. During the group stages of Champions, they have managed to secure the third place with three wins and three defeats. They went into the away leg losing the first match 1-0, but produced a fantastic display to win 3-2 and qualify. The visiting Russians are in good form at the moment, having won six of their last seven competitive games, thus being third in the League’s table, 5 points behind leaders Lokomotiv Moscow.
HEAD TO HEAD
CSKA Moscow have won one and drawn another of their two meetings with Arsenal, both of which took place in the 2006/07 Champions’ League group stages.
Danny Welbeck and Petr Cech are both major doubts for The Gunners, whilst Santi Cazorla is still on the sidelines. Alexandre Lacazette should return after the injury, but Wenger will probably engage him in, since the beginning.
CSKA Moscow News
Defensive duo Viktor Vasin and Mario Fernandes are both injured for CSKA Moscow, as young midfielder Astemir Gordyushenko is injured, too.
We’re expecting Arsenal to start strong and win the match by more than 1 goal, so AH Arsenal -1.50 is what we will invest with Pinnacle offering 1.93.
