Salisbury – A Guide to Flat Racecourses

Salisbury Racecourse

Salisbury Racecourse is a stiff right handed galloping track, with uphill gradients. Its recognised as a grade three track and holds two listed races and two group three races. They hold both afternoon and evening meetings throughout their season.

Sometimes the longer distance races are flag started, ie; without stalls so bear that in mind if you wish to back a horse that is renowned for starting slowly as that issue can be exacerbated without stalls.

Andrew Balding is one trainer who does well with his two year olds at the course, for those of you that don’t know, his father, Ian Balding trained the great Mill Reef who happen to win on his racecourse debut at this track as a two year old. The Balding family do appear to have an affinity with the course as some of their best horses have raced here before going on to better things.

Please note: Profit and Loss figures (P/L) is based on level stakes betting of one Euro per bet to SP.
