Single Let’s start right at the beginning with the single bet. Quite simply, this means that your selection in any event must be successful for you to get a return or win.

Double

Again fairly straightforward, one bet of two selections in different events. Both selections must be successful to get a return.

Treble

A treble consists of one bet on three selections in different events. Once again, all three selections must be successful to receive a return.

Accumulator

An accumulator or “Acca” as you may often hear it referred to in betting circles is the simplest multiple bet. You have two or more selections and you need them all to win to get a return. A two selection accumulator is referred to as a double and a three selection as a treble. If the bettor wishes to take a four selection accumulator this is referred to as a “Fourfold” where all four selections have to be successful to receive a return. The maximum number of multi selection bets that can be undertaken in one transaction is 20 – This is known as a “Twentyfold” accumulator. The cost of betting on an accumulator is exactly the same as a single bet. For example, a €1 accumulator will cost just €1 but the return will depend on the prices of the selections chosen.

Yankee

A Yankee consists of eleven bets on four selections in different events. For example, six Doubles, four Trebles and one Fourfold accumulator. Two or more of the selections must be successful to receive a return. The bettor needs to also be aware that the cost of this kind of bet is different to any we have covered already. For example, if the customer decides to bet €1 on a Yankee, the actual amount paid over to the bookmaker is €11.

Lucky 15

Similar to the Yankee but the Lucky 15 also includes single bets. It consists of 15 bets on four selections in different events. For example, four Singles, six Doubles, four Trebles and a Fourfold accumulator. In the case of this bet, one or more of the selections must be successful to receive a return and just like the Yankee, the amount paid to over to the bookmaker is different from what we have already mentioned. For a €1 Lucky 15, the bettor will have to initially pay €15. There are numerous other combinations of bets available but the ones listed above are certainly the most common. Next time we will take a more in-depth look at individual sports betting and some of the most popular selections available to the customer. By Steve Mitchell (@barafundler)  ]]>
